Start with the equipment you need to power and its input voltage, connector and expected current draw. Compare battery chemistry, voltage, capacity in watt-hours, physical size and weight. V-Mount batteries suit multi-device rigs and often provide D-Tap, USB-C or DC outputs. NP-F batteries are smaller and suit compatible cameras, monitors and lights. Check whether USB-C supports charging only or power output as well. A higher capacity can extend runtime, but it usually adds weight. For air travel, check the battery's watt-hour rating and current airline requirements before packing.

Match the battery, plate and cable to the device, rather than relying on a similar product name. V-Mount and Sony NP-F are different mounting systems. Sony BP-U batteries are also a separate format from NP-F, and a D-Tap cable still needs the correct plug, polarity and regulated voltage for the equipment. Confirm the connector size, right-angle clearance and cable length before ordering.
