About the Cine Lenses range

Start with the focal length and sensor format. Wide lenses suit interiors, establishing shots and confined spaces, while standard and telephoto lenses give a narrower view for interviews, details and distant subjects. Check the maximum T-stop, which describes light transmission and helps keep exposure consistent between lenses. Also compare focus-throw length, geared focus and iris rings, close-focus distance, lens size and weight. For a matched set, look for consistent gear positions, front diameter, colour rendering and aperture markings. The camera body, follow-focus system and support equipment should all suit the selected lens.

Check the camera mount and sensor coverage before ordering. PL and EF are different mounts, and a lens may require the correct adapter or mount configuration. A lens that physically attaches may still not cover the camera sensor, so confirm whether it is intended for your format. This range is organised into Digital Cine Lenses for production cameras and cinema-style rigs, and Industrial Lenses for inspection and specialist viewing. For flexible probes, check probe diameter, cable length, camera or display requirements and working environment. Read each product page for its exact mount, coverage and dispatch time.

Cine Lenses questions

What is the difference between a cine lens and a photo lens?

Cine lenses commonly use geared focus and iris rings, longer focus throws and clear, repeatable markings for video production. Many are designed for manual operation and follow-focus systems. Photo lenses may include autofocus, shorter focus rotation and electronic controls, depending on the model.

Will a PL cine lens fit my camera?

Not automatically. Confirm that the camera has a PL mount or use a suitable adapter approved for the camera and lens combination. Check flange distance, sensor coverage, clearance and support requirements. A PL lens may not be suitable for every EF, mirrorless or compact cinema camera.

What do T2.1 and T2.8 mean on a cine lens?

The T-stop indicates the lens's measured light transmission, rather than only its theoretical aperture. A lower number generally allows more light to reach the sensor. T2.1 is brighter than T2.8, but exposure also depends on shutter speed, ISO, lighting and the camera sensor.
