Rigging parts follow a few standards: 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threads, ARRI locating pins, NATO rails, cold shoes and 15 mm or 19 mm rods. Once your cage carries those, handles, monitor mounts and matte boxes from any of these brands fit. Product pages list the camera models a part is made for and the threads and rails it carries.

Do parts from different brands fit together?

Mostly yes. Threads, ARRI pins, NATO rails and 15 mm rods are shared standards, so a Tilta handle fits a SmallRig cage. Body-specific parts such as cages and baseplates must match the camera.

What is the difference between 15 mm and 19 mm rods?

15 mm rods, spaced 60 mm apart, are the lightweight standard for mirrorless and small cinema rigs. 19 mm rods at 104 mm spacing carry heavy cinema lenses and matte boxes. Choose the system your baseplate and follow focus use.

Where do I start when building a rig?

Cage first, because it decides the mounting points. Then a top handle for hand-held work, a monitor mount, and a baseplate with rods only if you need a matte box, follow focus or shoulder support.
