About the Rig Components range

Start with the connection standard and the accessory load. Check whether you need 15 mm rods, a NATO rail, cold shoe, 1/4-inch-20 or 3/8-inch-16 threads, ARRI locating points, or a quick release plate. For articulating arms, compare length, ballhead or clamp design, screw type and locking method. For cages and baseplates, check camera model, tripod interface, rod spacing, clearance and access to batteries, cards, ports and screens. Consider the complete setup, including monitor size, cable routing and whether the added weight suits your support system.

Compatibility is the main trap. A cage made for one camera body may not fit a similar model, and a baseplate may use 15 mm LWS rods, a different rod spacing or an ARRI-style dovetail. Check thread size and male or female orientation before ordering. Cold shoe adapters suit shoe accessories, but they do not replace a threaded mount. This range is organised by the part you need, from Articulating Arms and Camera Cages to Rods, Baseplates, Mounting Plates, Shoe Mount Adapters and Replacement Knobs & Screws. Each product page shows its dispatch time.

Rig Components questions

What size rods do I need for a camera rig?

Most camera rig accessories in this category use 15 mm rods, but check the product listing for the exact standard and spacing. Rod length depends on the accessories you need to support. Confirm that the baseplate, rod clamp, follow focus and matte box use the same 15 mm system.

Will any camera cage fit my camera?

No. Cages are shaped for specific camera bodies and may also depend on the camera model, lens mount, cable positions and accessory ports. Check the listed camera compatibility and compare the cage opening, mounting points and clearance with your camera before buying.

What is the difference between a cold shoe and a threaded mount?

A cold shoe accepts accessories with a matching shoe foot, commonly microphones, lights and small monitors. A threaded mount uses a screw connection such as 1/4-inch-20 or 3/8-inch-16. Adapters can change one mounting method to another, but thread size and orientation must match.
