Full cages wrap the body for the most mounting points and protection; half cages and baseplate-style cages keep weight down and leave the grip clear. Kits bundle a top handle or HDMI clamp. The cage page names every body it fits, and where a camera has an update (FX3 to FX3A, a7 IV to a7 V) the listing says whether the fit carries over.

Will a cage block the flip-out screen or the battery door?

Cages made for a specific body are cut around the screen hinge, battery door and ports. Universal cages may not be. Each product page states what stays accessible.

Full cage or half cage?

A full cage gives the most protection and mounting points and suits monitors, mics and handles together. A half cage is lighter and keeps the grip open for hand-held and gimbal use.

Can I use the cage on a gimbal?

Yes if the combined weight stays within the gimbal payload and the cage has an Arca or Manfrotto-compatible base. Many SmallRig and Tilta cages include a quick-release base for exactly this.
