About the Baseplates range

A baseplate carries the rod clamps and the quick-release plate, so it decides how the camera sits on a tripod, a gimbal or a shoulder. Height-adjustable plates line the lens centre up with a matte box; VCT plates drop onto broadcast tripod wedges in one movement. Each listing states the rod standard, the plate type and the camera models it is made for.

Baseplates questions

What is a VCT baseplate?

A wedge-style plate from the broadcast world that clicks into a VCT-14 tripod adapter and releases with a lever, so a shoulder rig moves between tripod and shoulder in seconds.

Universal or camera-specific baseplate?

Camera-specific plates align the lens height and clear ports without adjustment. Universal plates fit any body with a tripod thread and need setting up once.
