About the Battery Mounting Plates range
Start with the battery format your equipment accepts. V-Mount and V-Lock are commonly used interchangeably, but check the plate and battery locking design before ordering. NP-F plates require compatible NP-F style batteries. Then check the available outputs, such as D-Tap, USB, USB-C or DC barrel sockets, and confirm their voltage matches your device. Mounting options also matter. Look for 15 mm rod support, a swivelling rod block, cage mounting, threaded holes or a quick-release interface that suits your rig.
Check the plate dimensions, screw position and clearance around your camera or cage. A plate may hold a battery without providing power outputs, while an adapter plate may convert one battery format for equipment designed for another. Do not assume a V-Mount plate powers every camera, monitor or light. Confirm the connector, voltage, polarity and required cable separately. Do V-Mount and V-Lock battery plates fit the same batteries?
The terms are often used for the same wedge-style battery system, but fit can vary between manufacturers and battery designs. Check the product specifications and locking mechanism before buying. Also confirm that the plate provides the power outputs and voltage required by your camera or accessory.
Can a battery mounting plate power my camera?
Only if the plate has a suitable output and you use the correct cable. Check the device voltage, connector type, polarity and current requirements. Some plates are designed only to mount a battery, while others include D-Tap, USB, USB-C or DC outputs.
Can I use an NP-F battery on a V-Mount plate?
Not directly. An NP-F battery requires an NP-F adapter plate or a compatible conversion system. Check whether the adapter uses one or two batteries, which NP-F sizes it accepts and the output voltage available to your equipment. Battery capacity and charge level can also affect operation.
