About the Installation Sound range

Start with the application, listening area and required coverage. For paging or background music, check whether speakers use a 70V or 100V line transformer, then add their selected wattage taps to calculate the amplifier load. For low-impedance systems, match the amplifier to the speaker impedance, commonly 4 or 8 ohms, and check power handling. Also compare microphone pickup pattern, speaker mounting dimensions, frequency response, input and output connections, rack space, and whether the equipment needs signal processing or distribution.

Compatibility is the main installation trap. Do not connect 100V line speakers to a conventional low-impedance amplifier output, or mix both speaker types on the same circuit. Confirm the amplifier supports the required line voltage and has enough capacity for the total speaker load. Ceiling speaker cut-out size is different from visible grille diameter, so check both before ordering. The range is organised by function, including microphones, speakers, amplifiers, DI and distribution equipment, monitor speakers, and loudspeaker management tools.

Installation Sound questions

What amplifier do I need for 100V line ceiling speakers?

Choose an amplifier with a 100V output and enough rated power for the sum of the speakers' selected transformer taps. Allow additional capacity rather than running continuously at the limit. Confirm the speakers are 100V line models, not standard 4 or 8 ohm speakers.

Can I use a 100V speaker with a normal home amplifier?

No. A 100V line speaker requires an amplifier designed for 70V or 100V distribution systems. A conventional amplifier for 4 or 8 ohm speakers may be damaged or operate incorrectly if connected directly to a 100V line speaker.

How do I measure the ceiling speaker size before installation?

Check the manufacturer's cut-out diameter, mounting depth and ceiling thickness range, rather than relying on the grille's outside diameter. Also inspect for joists, ducting, cables and insulation behind the ceiling. Confirm the transformer tap and wiring requirements before fitting the speaker.
