Description
The Zoom H4essential is a handheld 4-track portable recorder for audio-for-video, podcasting, music recording, dictation and transcription. It suits users who want a compact recorder with built-in microphones and external inputs for capturing interviews, demos, voice notes and location audio.
It records up to 4 tracks at 96 kHz and 32-bit float, with 5 input channels, onboard X/Y stereo condenser microphones in a cardioid arrangement, and 2 XLR-1/4 inch TRS combo inputs. The recorder also includes an onboard mixer, waveform display, overdubbing, a 2 inch monochrome OLED screen and a 1 W mono speaker. Recording formats include BWF, iXML and WAV, and it supports microSDXC cards up to 1 TB.
In practice, it can be used on its own for quick capture or paired with microphones, instruments, mixers or camera workflows through its combo inputs and built-in mics. It does not include internal storage, so a microSD card is required. The box includes the Zoom H4essential 4-Track 32-Bit Float Portable Audio Recorder.
