Description
The RØDE NT1 5th Generation is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone for vocal recording, voice-over, podcasting and other studio work. It suits users who want one mic that can connect to an audio interface or straight to a computer. The side-address cardioid design helps focus on the sound in front of the mic and reduce unwanted room noise.
It uses a 1-inch gold-sputtered capsule, a 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range and an exceptionally low 4dBA self-noise figure. Maximum SPL is 142 dB, so it can handle louder sources as well as quieter ones. Output options include 3-pin XLR with 48V phantom power or USB-C with 5V power. Digital operation supports 24-bit and 32-bit floating point recording at 48kHz, 96kHz or 192kHz, with APHEX digital processing available at 48kHz.
In practice, this microphone suits recording into a mixer, interface or computer, depending on the setup. It works with Windows 10 and macOS 10.15 or later. In the box are the NT1 5th Gen Black, an SM6 shock mount with pop filter, a 6m XLR cable and a 3m USB-C to USB-C cable.
