Description
The Shure SM57 is a dynamic instrument microphone suited to miking guitar amps, snare drum and other loud sources. Its cardioid pickup pattern helps focus on the source in front of it while reducing unwanted sound from the sides and rear. It is a practical choice for players, engineers and venues that need a simple wired microphone for regular use.
It uses a moving coil dynamic transducer and has a frequency response of 40 Hz to 15 kHz. The output is 150 ohms rated impedance, with a 300 ohms actual figure, for low impedance microphone inputs. It uses a male XLR-3 connector and does not need phantom power or a battery. It measures 157 x 32 mm and weighs 284 g.
In use, the SM57 is commonly placed close to an amplifier, drum or other instrument source and connected to a mixer, interface or preamp with an XLR microphone input. It comes with a padded bag and an A25D stand adapter. The microphone is compact, so it fits easily into live rigs and studio setups.
