Description
The RODE smartLav+ is a clip-on lavalier microphone made for recording speech to a smartphone. It suits presenters, interviewers and content creators who want a small microphone that sits discreetly on clothing and captures voice close to the source. The omnidirectional pickup helps keep the sound consistent when the speaker turns their head.
It uses a condenser capsule with a pressure gradient acoustic principle, a JFET active stage and a TRRS connector. The frequency range is 60 Hz to 18 kHz, with 67 dB signal to noise ratio, 27 dB-A equivalent noise and 83 dB dynamic range. Sensitivity is -35 dB, maximum SPL is 110 dB SPL and output impedance is 3 kΩ typical.
In use, it connects directly to a compatible smartphone or tablet with a headset input and works with many recording apps. It also pairs with the Rode Rec app on Apple iOS. The box includes a foam pop shield, mic clip and small pouch. It is a wired lavalier for straightforward spoken-word recording.
