Description
The Blackmagic Video Assist 3G 5 inch Portable Monitor is a 5 inch touchscreen monitor and recorder for camera setups that need a compact display and in-camera recording. It suits users working with SDI or HDMI cameras who want a clearer view of framing, focus and exposure while recording to SD cards. The 1920 x 1080 screen and 135 degree viewing angle suit on-camera, rigged or assistant-operated use.
It records up to 1080p60 and supports 10-bit 4:2:2 Apple ProRes 422 HQ, 422, LT and Proxy, plus Avid DNxHD formats. Connections include one Micro BNC SDI input and output, one HDMI Type A input and output, embedded audio over SDI and HDMI, and a 3.5 mm stereo analogue audio output. Recording media is UHS-1 SDHC and SDXC cards.
In practice, it can sit between a camera and monitor or be used as a field recorder and viewing screen on set. It works with SDI or HDMI camera outputs and is supplied with the monitor and a 12V universal power supply with international socket adapters. Use is limited to compatible video and recording workflows rather than standalone playback.
