About the Instrument Cables range

Start with the cable length, then check the plugs at both ends. A 3 m cable suits many home, rehearsal and small-stage setups, while 6 m provides more room to move. Straight plugs work with many instruments and amplifiers. A right-angle plug can fit some recessed guitar outputs or help reduce cable strain. Standard guitar leads normally use 6.35 mm TS plugs for mono, unbalanced signals. Shielding, flexible construction, strain relief and connector quality also matter, particularly when the cable is moved regularly or used near lighting and power equipment.

Instrument cables are not speaker cables. Use an instrument lead between a guitar, bass, keyboard or pedal and an appropriate input, but use a speaker cable between an amplifier output and a passive speaker. Check whether your equipment needs a 6.35 mm mono plug, an XLR connection or a 3.5 mm lockable mini jack before ordering. The range is organised under Guitar Cables and includes standard straight-to-straight, straight-to-right-angle, dual 1/4-inch and 1/4-inch-to-XLR options. Avoid choosing by plug size alone, as identical-looking connectors can carry different signal types.

Instrument Cables questions

What length guitar cable should I buy?

Choose a cable long enough to reach your amplifier or pedalboard without tension. Around 3 m suits many home and rehearsal setups. Around 6 m gives more movement for performance. Avoid extra length that creates unnecessary loops, clutter and handling problems.

Are instrument cables and speaker cables the same?

No. An instrument cable is shielded for low-level audio signals between a guitar, bass, pedal or audio output and an input. A speaker cable is designed for the higher-power connection from an amplifier output to a passive speaker. Do not substitute one for the other.

Do I need a straight or right-angle guitar cable?

Check the output socket on your instrument and the available space around it. A right-angle plug can suit some recessed guitar sockets and reduce the cable's profile. A straight plug may be better where the socket is on the side or where a right-angle plug would not fit securely.
