About the Guitar Cables range
Check the cable length first. A 3 m lead suits many guitar-to-amplifier setups, while 6 m provides more room to move on stage. Avoid buying a longer cable than your setup needs, as extra length can add capacitance and may reduce high-frequency clarity. Compare connector shape, cable construction, shielding and flexibility. A right-angle plug can reduce strain at some instrument sockets, while a straight plug may suit recessed or awkwardly positioned sockets. For pedalboards, measure the route between devices rather than relying on the guitar lead length.
Most guitar cables use 6.35 mm, also called 1/4 inch, mono TS plugs for an unbalanced instrument signal. Check both pieces of equipment before ordering, because a 1/8 inch mini jack, XLR or stereo TRS connection is different. The range includes standard guitar leads, dual cables and conversion-style cables, so read the connector description carefully. Straight-to-right-angle cables can help with body-mounted or crowded sockets, but the correct orientation depends on your instrument and equipment. Do not confuse a guitar cable with a short pedalboard patch cable.
Guitar Cables questions
What length guitar cable should I buy in Australia?
Choose the shortest length that lets you move comfortably and route the cable without tension. A 3 m cable suits many home, rehearsal and small setup applications. A 6 m cable gives more space between an instrument and amplifier, but adds cable to manage.
Are guitar cables 6.35 mm or 1/4 inch?
Standard guitar leads generally use 6.35 mm, or 1/4 inch, mono TS plugs. Check the socket on your instrument and amplifier before buying. Mini jack and XLR connectors are different sizes and formats, and are not interchangeable with a standard guitar input.
Should I get a straight or right-angle guitar cable?
Choose the connector shape that matches your instrument socket and setup. Right-angle plugs can sit neatly in some front or side-mounted sockets and reduce strain in tight spaces. Straight plugs may suit recessed sockets or equipment where an angled connector would not fit.
