Description
The Rode M5-MP is a matched pair of small diaphragm condenser microphones for stereo recording and close miking. It suits acoustic instruments, drum overheads, choirs and other sources where a compact cardioid mic is useful. The pair is selected for closely matched sensitivity, which helps keep stereo images consistent.
Each microphone uses a 12.70 mm gold plated membrane capsule with a cardioid polar pattern and permanently polarised condenser design. The frequency range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with 19 dB A weighted equivalent noise, 140 dB SPL maximum level, 200 ohm impedance and 1% THD. It runs on 24 V to 48 V phantom power and connects by 3-pin XLR.
Use the pair as spaced overheads, in an XY or other stereo setup, or as separate microphones on instruments. It works with mixers, audio interfaces and preamps that provide phantom power. In the box are two WS5 windshields and two RM5 stand mounts, which makes it ready for basic studio or location use.
