Check the supported screen dimensions, not just the advertised diagonal size. Also confirm the included lens adapter ring sizes, camera mounting method, glass dimensions and overall weight. A folding design helps with travel. A larger hood and beamsplitter glass may suit studio use, but require a stable tripod and enough space around the camera.

Compatibility is the main buying trap. Confirm that your phone or tablet fits the holder in its intended orientation, then check your camera lens front thread, focal length and field of view. Very wide lenses can show the hood edges, while some setups need a longer focal length to avoid vignetting. A teleprompter may support a smartphone as the script display without supporting smartphone camera recording, so read the product specifications carefully.
