About the Power Stations & Accessories range

Size a power station by capacity and output. Capacity, in watt-hours, tells you how long it runs a load: divide the watt-hours by the device's draw for a rough runtime, then allow for conversion losses. Continuous AC output, in watts, must exceed the combined draw of everything plugged in at once, with headroom for motors and compressors that surge at start-up. Also compare the number and type of outlets, USB-C output wattage for laptops, recharge time from the wall, and the solar input rating if you plan to charge from panels.

Weight rises with capacity, so a smaller unit you will actually carry to set may serve better than a heavy one left in the vehicle. Check the battery chemistry: lithium iron phosphate cells, used in many current models, are designed for more charge cycles. Kettles, hair dryers and heaters drain a power station quickly even when the output rating allows them, so plan around lower-draw gear. For flights, most power stations exceed airline battery limits, so plan to drive with them or ship them separately.

Power Stations & Accessories questions

How long will a power station run my gear?

Divide the capacity in watt-hours by your device's power draw in watts, then take off roughly 15 to 20 percent for conversion losses. For example, a 1000Wh unit powering a 100W light runs for about eight hours. Check both figures on the product pages.

Can I charge a power station with solar panels?

Most portable power stations accept solar input through a dedicated port, within a stated voltage and wattage range. Match your panels to that range, since panels outside it will not charge the unit or may trip its protection. Charging speed depends on sunlight, panel angle and temperature.

Can I take a portable power station on a plane?

Generally no. Airlines limit the lithium batteries passengers can carry to a watt-hour threshold far below the capacity of most power stations. Check with your airline before travel, and plan to drive with the unit or use a freight service that accepts lithium batteries.
