A momentary footswitch operates only while held, which suits triggering, muting and some keyboard or recorder functions. Also compare single or dual switching, connector type, polarity, normally open or normally closed operation, power requirements, and pedal dimensions if space on your floor or pedalboard is limited.
Compatibility is not universal, even when two products use a 6.35 mm jack.
