About Hotone
The Ampero Switch is a compact pedal with two momentary footswitches in an aluminium case. It connects over a single TRS cable, supplied at 80 cm, to the EXP 2/FS jack on an Ampero, and each press sends a short pulse that the processor reads as a trigger. The Ampero Control is a programmable MIDI controller with four footswitches, each able to send up to 16 MIDI messages through different actions. It outputs over 5-pin DIN MIDI, USB and Bluetooth, runs on 9 to 18 volts DC or USB bus power, and stores 100 banks that you edit through an iOS or Android app.
Pick the Ampero Switch if you only need two extra assignable switches on an Ampero or another unit that supports momentary external footswitches. Pick the Ampero Control if you want to change presets and send program change, CC or note messages to one or several devices, such as a multi-effects unit, a keyboard or a lighting controller. It has two CTRL/EXP TRS jacks, so you can add expression pedals or more footswitches, including an Ampero Switch. Footswitch modes include single, toggle, momentary and hold. Before buying, confirm that the device you want to control accepts MIDI over DIN, USB or Bluetooth.
Hotone questions
Does the Hotone Ampero Switch work with gear other than the Ampero?
Hotone says the Ampero Switch works with the Ampero and other devices that support a momentary footswitch controller. It has two momentary switches on one TRS connection, so check that your unit accepts a dual momentary footswitch on a TRS jack.
Can the Ampero Control run on USB power?
Yes. Hotone lists two power options for the Ampero Control: a DC supply from 9 to 18 volts, or 5 volt USB bus power. A three-digit LED display shows MIDI message information and the Bluetooth connection status while you play.
What MIDI messages can the Ampero Control send?
Each footswitch can send up to 16 MIDI messages, including program change, control change and note on or off with velocity. Expression pedals plugged into its TRS jacks can be mapped to up to four CC messages per bank, with adjustable minimum and maximum values.
