Nektar Technology makes MIDI controllers, interfaces and DAW control products for music production, with DAW integration built into many of its keyboards. At Electronic Australia we stock the Nektar SE49 USB MIDI controller keyboard, the Midiflex 4 USB MIDI interface and the NP-1 metal foot switch, which together cover playing, connecting and sustain for a computer based setup.

About Nektar

The SE49 is a compact controller with 49 full size, velocity sensitive synth-action keys, pitch bend and modulation wheels, a 30 mm fader and octave and transpose buttons. It is powered over USB, needs no drivers and supports Nektar DAW integration for hosts including Bitwig, Cubase, Logic and Reaper. The Midiflex 4 is a class compliant USB MIDI interface in an aluminium housing with four configurable ports. The NP-1 is a sustain style foot switch in a heavy duty metal enclosure with a rubber base and a polarity switch.

Match the gear to your setup. The SE49 plugs straight into a computer, and its 1/4 inch foot switch input accepts the NP-1 for sustain. If you also run hardware synths or drum machines with 5-pin MIDI, the Midiflex 4 connects them to your computer as 1 in and 3 out, 2 in and 2 out, or 4 outputs. It works with macOS, Windows and iOS. With an optional USB power supply, it also runs without a computer as a MIDI merge or split box. The SE49 and Midiflex 4 include a Bitwig 8-Track licence.

Nektar questions

Will the NP-1 foot switch work with my keyboard?

The NP-1 has a 1/4 inch TS jack on a cable of about 1.8 m and a polarity switch, so it can match keyboards that expect either switch polarity. Plug it into your keyboard's sustain or foot switch input and set the polarity if sustain works in reverse.

Do I need drivers for the SE49 or Midiflex 4?

No. Both are USB class compliant, so they are recognised by macOS and Windows without extra drivers, and the Midiflex 4 also works with iOS. Nektar's DAW integration files add transport and track control in supported hosts.

Can the Midiflex 4 work without a computer?

Yes. Powered by an optional standard USB power supply, the Midiflex 4 runs stand alone as a 2 to 1 MIDI merge or a 1 to 3 MIDI split box, which is handy for small live rigs with hardware instruments.
