About the Lens Mount Adapters range
Start with the lens mount and camera mount, then check whether the adapter supports electronic communication. Manual adapters usually provide no autofocus, lens data or electronic aperture control, while autofocus models may support selected functions only. Check flange focal distance and infinity focus compatibility, particularly with cine lenses. For production work, look for a secure locking mount, support foot, shims or a rigid construction. A drop-in filter adapter can add variable ND filtration without changing the lens front filter.
Mount names describe two different sides of the adapter. For example, an EF to RF adapter accepts an EF or EF-S lens and fits an RF camera, while a PL to L adapter accepts a PL lens and fits an L-Mount camera. Do not rely on the camera brand alone. Confirm the exact body mount, lens mount, sensor coverage, clearance and control requirements. PL adapters may need careful alignment, and adapters with electronics or filters have different operating limitations.
Lens Mount Adapters questions
Do lens mount adapters keep autofocus and automatic aperture?
Only some electronic adapters support autofocus, aperture control or lens data, and compatibility can vary by lens and camera body. Fully manual adapters generally provide a mechanical connection without electronic communication. Check the individual product page for supported functions before ordering.
Can I use a PL lens on an RF or L-Mount camera?
Yes, when the adapter is specifically designed for the lens and camera mounts. This range includes PL to RF and PL to L-Mount options. Confirm the exact mount, locking mechanism, clearance and infinity focus requirements for your camera and lens combination.
What does EF-S mean on a lens adapter?
EF-S identifies a lens mount and lens format designed for selected Canon camera systems. An adapter listed for EF and EF-S lenses may support both, but the destination camera must still be compatible with the adapter. Check the product specifications and your camera body before purchase.
