About the Card Readers range
Match the reader to your card format first, then compare its connection and slot design. SD cards need an SD reader, while UHS-II cards require a reader with UHS-II support to reach their rated performance. CFexpress Type A and Type B use different physical formats and need the corresponding reader. USB 3.2 Gen 2 supports up to 10Gbps, while USB 4.0 can provide more bandwidth, provided your computer and cable support it. Single-slot readers suit one card type, while dual-slot readers can reduce cable changes during transfers.
Check the ports on your computer before choosing a USB-C card reader. A USB-C plug describes the connector, not necessarily the transfer standard, so a slower host port can limit performance. A Type B reader cannot read Type A cards, and neither can read an ordinary SD card unless an SD slot is included. The range is organised around these formats, including CFexpress Type A, CFexpress Type B, SD and dual-slot combinations. Confirm the card logo and camera manual, and check the product page for dispatch time before ordering.
Card Readers questions
Do I need a special reader for CFexpress cards?
Yes. CFexpress cards use a different interface from SD and ordinary CompactFlash cards, so they require a dedicated CFexpress reader. Select Type A or Type B to match the card in your camera. A dual-slot model is suitable only when its listed slots include your CFexpress type.
Will a USB-C card reader work with my laptop?
It will work when your laptop has a compatible USB-C data port and the supplied or suitable cable is used. USB-C identifies the connector, not the speed. The computer port, cable and reader can all affect transfer performance, so check the specifications for USB 3.2 or USB 4.0 support.
What is the difference between a single-slot and dual-slot card reader?
A single-slot reader accepts one listed card format, such as CFexpress Type B. A dual-slot reader combines two formats, such as CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SDXC, which can be useful when your camera kit uses both. Check whether simultaneous card access is supported if that feature matters to your workflow.
