What is a C-stand?

A heavy steel stand with a removable base, a grip head and an extension arm. It holds lights, flags and modifiers rigidly and is the standard on film sets.

How tall a stand do I need?

For a key light on a seated subject, 2 to 2.5 metres. For overhead or standing subjects, 3 metres or a boom.

What is a 5/8-inch stud?

The standard top fitting on light stands, also called a baby pin or spigot. Lights and modifiers with a 5/8 receiver mount on it.
