About Netgear

The Netgear AV Line M4250 series is configured for AV over IP traffic, with Netgear IGMP Plus for multicast, preset AV profiles in the web interface and support for jumbo frames. The GSM4210PD, also listed as the M4250-9G1F-PoE+, has eight gigabit PoE+ ports delivering up to 30 W each within a 110 W total budget, plus one gigabit RJ45 port and one SFP port for fibre or uplinks. It is fanless, so it runs quietly in edit suites, meeting rooms and small studios. AVB is supported with an electronic licence.

Add up the power draw of your PoE devices, such as PTZ cameras, Dante interfaces or wireless access points, and keep the total under the 110 W budget with some headroom. Each port supports PoE+ (802.3at) devices up to 30 W. Use the SFP port with a suitable module when you need a fibre run to another room or switch. The unit measures 210 by 140 by 40 mm and ships with flat brackets for desk or wall mounting. For larger PoE budgets or more ports, look at other M4250 models.

Netgear questions

How much PoE power does the GSM4210PD provide?

Netgear rates it at up to 30 W per port on its eight PoE+ ports, with a total PoE budget of 110 W shared across them. Check the combined draw of your cameras and devices stays within that figure.

Is the GSM4210PD noisy?

No. Netgear lists the GSM4210PD as a fanless design, so it makes no fan noise. That makes it suitable for desks, control rooms, studios and meeting spaces where a noisy rack switch would be heard.

Can it be wall mounted?

Yes. Netgear supplies flat brackets for desktop or wall mounting, plus rubber feet for tabletop use. At 210 by 140 by 40 mm it fits easily behind a desk, under a table or on a wall near your gear.
