Description
The Radial Engineering BigShot ABY is a passive true-bypass switcher for players who want to run one instrument into two amps, choose between them, or use both together. It suits guitarists who want simple amp switching without buffers in the signal path. The dedicated tuner output also makes it useful for players who need to mute the main output while tuning.
It uses 100% passive analogue circuitry with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and gain of -0.3 dB. Output-B includes a switchable isolation transformer, ground lift and 180° polarity reverse to help manage hum and phase issues. Status is shown by large 3 mm ultra-bright LEDs. It runs from 9 VDC, centre pole negative power for the LEDs.
In practice, it works well on a pedalboard with two amplifiers and an electronic tuner. The tuner output is always active, while the main outputs are switched from the footswitch. The unit is built from 14-gauge steel with a powder coat finish and measures 9.1 x 9.9 x 5.1 cm. The box includes the Radial Engineering BigShot ABY True-Bypass Amplifier Switcher with Tuner Out and LED Lights.
