About the Lens Caps range
Choose a front cap by the lens's diameter or filter thread size, shown with the diameter symbol and a measurement such as 55mm, 67mm, 72mm or 82mm. Do not use the lens focal length, such as 15-45mm, to select the cap. Check whether you need a front, rear or push-on design. Pinch-style front caps are convenient with many lens hoods, while push-on caps fit over a specified outside diameter and are used with compatible filter systems.
The range is organised around front and rear lens protection, with some caps made for a particular lens series or mount. A rear cap must match the lens mount, not simply the camera brand. For a front cap, confirm the exact diameter printed on the lens, existing cap or manufacturer specifications. Check product wording carefully, especially for NiSi SWIFT caps, which are designed for True Color VND and SWIFT System compatibility. Focal length and filter size are different measurements.
Lens Caps questions
How do I know what size lens cap I need?
Look for the diameter symbol followed by a measurement on the front of the lens, such as 67mm or 72mm. That number is usually the required front cap size. You can also check the lens specifications or compare the marking inside the original cap.
Is a 55mm lens cap for a 55mm lens?
Not necessarily. A 55mm lens cap normally refers to a 55mm filter thread or front diameter, not the lens focal length. A lens with a different focal length can use a 55mm cap, while a 55mm focal-length lens may require another size. Check the diameter marking.
What is the difference between a front and rear lens cap?
A front cap covers the exposed front element and is selected by diameter or compatible system. A rear cap covers the rear of the lens when it is removed from the camera and must match the lens mount. These caps are not interchangeable.
