About Shimbol

The TP Mini is rated for up to 600 feet, about 182 metres, line of sight, with latency as low as 70 milliseconds. The transmitter takes an HDMI input and passes it through on an HDMI loop output, so the camera's own monitor stays connected. The receiver has two HDMI outputs, one for a monitor and one for a switcher or recorder. Each unit has built-in antennas, an OLED status display, a fanless aluminium body and a 1/4 inch mounting thread, and weighs about 113 g.

The TP Mini suits mirrorless and small cinema cameras with an HDMI output. It carries HDMI only, so SDI cameras need a converter. Range is quoted for clear line of sight, so walls, crowds and metal structures will shorten it; keep the units raised and facing each other where possible. Each unit has an L-series battery plate for Sony NP-F type batteries and can also run from a 5V USB-C source such as a power bank. The set ships with a charging cable and manual, so add batteries to your order if needed.

Shimbol questions

What is the range of the Shimbol TP Mini?

Shimbol rates the TP Mini for up to 600 feet, about 182 metres, with clear line of sight on the 5 GHz band. Obstructions and interference reduce usable range, so plan for less on a busy set or indoors.

How is the Shimbol TP Mini powered?

Each unit has an L-series battery plate that takes Sony NP-F type batteries, or it can be powered through its 5V USB-C input. Power draw is listed at 2.5 W for the transmitter and 2 W for the receiver.

Does the Shimbol TP Mini support SDI?

No. The TP Mini is an HDMI system. The transmitter has an HDMI input and HDMI loop-through output, and the receiver has two HDMI outputs. Cameras with SDI output only would need an SDI to HDMI converter.
