PageFlip makes foot pedal page turners that let musicians and readers turn pages or scroll on a tablet or computer hands-free. At Electronic Australia we stock two PageFlip pedals: the Firefly, which connects by Bluetooth or USB-C and has programmable modes, and the Butterfly, a Bluetooth pedal with three modes. Both run on AA batteries and work with tablets and computers.

About PageFlip

PageFlip pedals act as a Bluetooth keyboard, sending key presses such as arrow keys or PageUp and PageDown when you tap a pedal. That lets them work with sheet music and lyric apps such as forScore, OnSong, unrealBook and MobileSheets on iPad and Android, and with Windows, Mac and Linux computers. The Firefly has two illuminated pedals, five programmable modes, Bluetooth 4.0 or wired USB-C connection and two auxiliary outlets for external pedals. The Butterfly uses Bluetooth 4.0 with two pedals and three modes: PageUp and PageDown, up and down arrows, or left and right arrows.

Choose the Butterfly if you need a simple two-pedal Bluetooth page turner for one tablet. Choose the Firefly if you play in dim venues, want a cabled USB-C option, need extra modes for scrolling, setlists or media control, or plan to add two external pedals. Both take two AA batteries, which PageFlip says last about a year, and the Firefly can also run from USB-C power. PageFlip recommends alkaline rather than rechargeable batteries. Before buying, confirm your app responds to keyboard input and which keys it uses to turn pages.

PageFlip questions

Which apps work with PageFlip pedals?

Any app that responds to keyboard commands such as arrow keys or PageUp and PageDown. PageFlip lists forScore, OnSong and MobileSheets on iPad, MobileSheets and SongBook on Android, plus Windows, Mac and Linux software that reads keyboard input.

Do I need to pair a PageFlip pedal every time I play?

No. PageFlip says you pair once per device by holding the Bluetooth reset button until the lights flash in sequence. The pedal then remembers that device. It connects to one device at a time, and it sleeps after 30 minutes without use.

What is the difference between the PageFlip Firefly and Butterfly?

The Firefly adds illuminated pedals, five programmable modes instead of three, a wired USB-C connection and USB-C power as well as Bluetooth, and two outlets for external pedals. It is also heavier at 431 g against the Butterfly's 368 g.
