Darkglass Electronics is a Finnish company, trading as Darkglass Electronics Oy, that makes bass preamp and overdrive pedals. From Darkglass we stock three of them: the Microtubes B7K V2, the Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 and the Alpha Omega. They suit bass players who want an overdriven tone and a direct feed to the mixing desk from a single pedal.

About Darkglass Electronics

The Microtubes B7K V2 has a four-band EQ with plus or minus 12dB on each band and switchable mid frequencies, Blend, Level, Drive, Grunt and Attack controls, an XLR direct out with ground lift and a parallel output. The Alpha Omega combines two distortion circuits, Alpha and Omega, mixed with a Mod control, plus Bite and Growl controls, a three-band EQ, an XLR output with ground lift and a parallel output. The B7K Ultra V2 widens the EQ with six selectable mid frequencies and adds a master control.

Choose the B7K V2 for a compact preamp with the core overdrive controls, the Ultra if you want wider EQ control and a master level, and the Alpha Omega if you want two distortion voices blended in one pedal. On the B7K, the Blend control mixes your clean signal with the drive, keeping low end solid under heavy settings. The pedals run on 9 volt centre-negative power; check the current draw on the product page and use an isolated supply. Darkglass offers a two year warranty to the original owner when the pedal is registered.

Darkglass Electronics questions

Can I use a Darkglass B7K as a DI for live sound?

Yes. The Microtubes B7K V2 has a balanced XLR direct output with a ground lift, so you can send a processed signal straight to the mixing desk while also feeding your amplifier. The ground lift helps if you hear hum through the desk.

What power supply do Darkglass pedals need?

Darkglass lists 9 volt centre-negative power for these pedals, with current draw that varies by model. Use a regulated, isolated supply with enough current for each outlet, and avoid sharing an outlet with digital pedals if you hear noise.

What is the difference between the B7K V2 and Alpha Omega?

The B7K V2 is a single overdrive preamp with a four-band EQ and Blend control. The Alpha Omega has two distortion circuits, Alpha and Omega, that you mix with the Mod control, plus Bite and Growl controls and a three-band EQ for a wider range of drive voicings.
