About the Conversion Adapters range

Check the connection at both ends before choosing an adapter. Important specifications include thread gender, thread size and pitch, such as female 1/4-inch-20, male 3/8-inch-16 or M10. For stand hardware, confirm whether you need a 5/8-inch, also called 16 mm, stud or receiver. A spigot may provide male threads, female threads or both. Also check the adapter's shape and tightening method, including a flange, hex section or locking feature, especially where equipment could rotate or loosen.

The most common mistake is matching the diameter but not the thread standard or gender. A 3/8-inch thread is not automatically interchangeable with a 1/4-inch-20 thread, and a male stud needs a female receiver. Some products convert camera-style threads, while others adapt Baby 5/8-inch, or 16 mm, stand fittings. Read the full product specification and compare both sides of the connection. The range here includes thread adapters, rapid adapters, receiver fittings, spigots and reducing bushings.

Conversion Adapters questions

What size thread do I need for a camera or light stand adapter?

Check the threaded socket or stud on your equipment first. Camera and small accessory fittings commonly use 1/4-inch-20 or 3/8-inch-16 threads. Light stands and grip equipment often use a 5/8-inch, or 16 mm, stud or receiver. Confirm the thread gender as well as the size.

Is a 5/8-inch adapter the same as a 16 mm adapter?

In lighting and grip equipment, 5/8-inch is commonly referred to as 16 mm, or Baby size. Check the listed dimensions and whether the product is a stud or receiver. A 5/8-inch male stud fits a compatible 5/8-inch female receiver, but it does not replace a threaded connection by itself.

How do I stop a conversion adapter from rotating?

Use an adapter with a flange, hex section, locking screw or other retention feature when the equipment requires it. Tighten the connection by hand without forcing the thread, and support heavier equipment independently. Check that the adapter's thread and fitting type match the equipment before loading it.
