About Syrp
Magic Carpet is a modular slider system. Instead of one fixed rail, it uses track sections, a carriage and end caps that are bought separately and joined to reach the length you want, so a slider can be extended by adding more track. The carbon fibre short track is one 600mm section of this system. Carbon fibre keeps it light for location work, and retailers list it as supporting camera setups of up to 5 kg. It is designed for use with the Magic Carpet carriage and end caps, and it slots into existing Magic Carpet kits as well as being a starting point for a new short slider build.
This listing is the track only, so you will need a Magic Carpet carriage and a pair of end caps to use it. It can extend an existing Magic Carpet slider for longer moves or serve as a compact rail for travel. It is listed as compatible with the original Magic Carpet carriage and end caps; if you own a Magic Carpet PRO kit, confirm compatibility with us before ordering. Keep your total load, including camera, lens, head and any monitor, within 5 kg, and use sturdy tripods or stands at each end when the slider is long. As Syrp no longer trades, spare parts may become harder to find.
Syrp questions
Is Syrp still in business?
No. Syrp was acquired by the Vitec Group, now Videndum, in 2019, and its products moved into the Manfrotto range in 2022. Videndum shut Syrp down during 2024. Some Magic Carpet sliders are still listed under the Manfrotto name, and remaining Syrp stock is still sold.
Does the Magic Carpet short track include a carriage?
No. The Magic Carpet Carbon Fibre Short Track is a single 600mm track section. To build a working slider you also need a Magic Carpet carriage and end caps, which are designed to fit the carbon fibre track.
How much weight can the carbon fibre track carry?
Retailers list the Magic Carpet carbon fibre track as supporting camera setups of up to 5 kg. Include the camera body, lens, fluid head, monitor and any accessories when working out the total, and support long slider builds at both ends.
