About SpyPoint
The FLEX-DARK takes 40MP photos and 1080p video with sound, with a 0.3 second trigger and a detection and flash range of 100 feet, about 30 metres. It carries both low-glow and no-glow LEDs, switchable remotely in the SPYPOINT app, and uses dual-SIM technology that connects to the strongest available network. GPS lets you locate the camera on the in-app map. The FLEX-S-DARK shares those core specs and adds solar power with a built-in battery plus livestream video. The FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 records 4K video with sound, uses 54 LEDs, captures up to six photos per detection and has a colour LCD screen for reviewing images at the camera.
The first decision is whether the camera needs to report back. Cellular FLEX models suit sites you cannot visit often, but they need mobile coverage where the camera is mounted and a SPYPOINT transmission plan managed through the app, so check coverage and plan availability for your location before you buy. The FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 needs no signal and stores everything on a microSD card, which suits remote properties. For power, the solar FLEX-S-DARK and FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 reduce battery changes; the FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 also takes eight AA batteries as backup. Budget for a quality microSD card and a secure mount or strap for each camera.
SpyPoint questions
What is the difference between low-glow and no-glow LEDs?
Both are infrared lighting for night images. The FLEX-DARK and FLEX-S-DARK carry both types, and you can switch between them remotely in the SPYPOINT app. No-glow LEDs are designed to give off no noticeable light, which helps keep the camera hidden from wildlife and people.
Does the FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 need mobile coverage?
No. The FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 is a non-cellular camera. It records photos and 4K video with sound to a microSD card, and you review and manage what it captured on the built-in colour LCD screen or by reading the card on a computer.
How is the FORCE-PRO-S 2.0 powered?
A built-in solar panel charges the camera's internal lithium battery, which reduces trips to swap batteries. If there is not enough sunlight to keep the internal battery charged, you can install eight AA batteries as a backup power source.
