About Leatherman

The Wave+ carries 18 tools, including needlenose and regular pliers, replaceable wire and hard-wire cutters, knives, scissors, files and a bit driver, with eyeglass and Phillips bits included. Its tools are one-hand operable, several can be reached without opening the pliers, and every tool except the plier head locks in place. It is 10 cm long closed and weighs 241 g. The Signal is built for outdoor use with 19 tools, adding a ferro rod for lighting fires, an emergency whistle, a hammer surface and a diamond-coated sharpener to its pliers and combo edge blade. It is 11.4 cm closed and weighs 213 g.

Choose the Wave+ for rigging, repairs and general kit work, where the bit driver, scissors and replaceable cutters get the most use. Choose the Signal if the tool is going camping or into a go bag, since the fire starter, whistle and sharpener cover outdoor needs the Wave+ does not. Leatherman lists the Wave+ sheath as sold separately, so allow for one if you want belt carry. Leatherman publishes a 25-year warranty on both tools. Multi-tools with locking blades may be restricted in some public places under state and territory laws, so check the rules before carrying one.
