About Generic

powerCON is a lockable AC equipment connector made by Neutrik and used on amplifiers and stage lighting. It has three contacts for line, neutral and earth, and the standard version is rated at 20 amps at 250 volts. The connector twists to lock, so it will not pull out when a cable is bumped. Blue powerCON connectors are for power in and grey connectors for power out, and the two are keyed differently so they cannot be swapped by mistake.

Before ordering, check the inlet on your device. Standard powerCON inlets take this type of cable, but some newer gear uses powerCON TRUE1, a different connector family that does not mate with standard powerCON. Look at the connector colour and markings on your device. To connect, push in and twist to lock; to disconnect, pull the release latch before twisting back. Switch equipment off before connecting or disconnecting, and inspect mains leads regularly for cuts or damaged plugs, especially on touring gear.

Generic questions

What is the difference between blue and grey powerCON?

Blue powerCON connectors supply power into a device, while grey connectors carry power out, for example to link power on to another fixture. They are keyed differently so they cannot be confused. Check the product photos to confirm the connector on this cable.

Is powerCON compatible with powerCON TRUE1?

No. powerCON TRUE1 is a separate connector family with a different design, and it does not mate with standard blue or grey powerCON. Check the connector on your device before ordering, since some newer speakers and lights use TRUE1 inlets.

Can I unplug a powerCON cable while the device is on?

Standard powerCON connectors should not be connected or disconnected under load. Switch the device off first, then pull the release latch and twist to unlock. This protects the contacts and reduces the risk of arcing.
