About CKMOVA
A plug-in microphone like the SPM3L suits phone-based interviews, vlogging, voice notes, lectures and social video, where a separate recorder or wireless kit would be more than the job needs. Plugging straight into the Lightning port keeps setup simple, and the flexible design lets you aim the capsule at the person speaking. Condenser capsules pick up detail in speech, which helps clarity, but they also pick up room noise, so get close to the source and record in the quietest spot available.
Check your device's connector first. The SPM3L is made for Lightning devices, so it will not plug into iPhone 15 and later models or iPads that use USB-C. Some phone cases block the Lightning port, so test the fit or remove the case. Most camera and recording apps accept an external Lightning microphone, but confirm in your chosen app's audio settings that it has switched to the external input. For windy outdoor recording, use a foam or furry windscreen over the capsule.
CKMOVA questions
Will the CKMOVA SPM3L work with a USB-C iPhone?
No. The SPM3L connects through the Lightning port, so it suits Lightning iPhones and iPads. iPhone 15 and later models, and many current iPads, use USB-C instead. Check your device's port before ordering, as an adaptor may not pass audio correctly.
Does a Lightning microphone need batteries?
Plug-in Lightning microphones generally draw power from the phone or tablet, so there is nothing to charge or pair. This keeps setup quick, but it uses a little of the device's battery, so start long recording sessions with a full charge.
