About Camranger
The CamRanger 2 connects to the camera by USB and creates its own Wi-Fi network, so it works away from a building network. CamRanger lists a range of up to 500 feet and dual-band Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It works with supported Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon and Sony cameras, and apps are available for iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows. Typical uses include product and studio shoots where a client reviews images on a tablet, and remote camera positions such as hides or high angles.
Check that your exact camera model is on CamRanger's compatibility list before ordering, since supported features vary by brand and model. For Sony and Fujifilm cameras, CamRanger states that an SD card must be inserted in the CamRanger 2. Use the correct USB cable for your camera's port, and keep the unit charged for long sessions. The 5GHz band usually gives faster image transfer where there is less interference, while 2.4GHz can reach further. CamRanger publishes a one year warranty for the CamRanger 2.
Camranger questions
Does CamRanger 2 need internet or Wi-Fi at the location?
No. The CamRanger 2 creates its own wireless network, and your tablet, phone or computer connects to it directly. That makes it usable in the field, in studios and at venues without relying on a building's Wi-Fi or an internet connection.
Which cameras work with CamRanger 2?
CamRanger lists support for Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon and Sony cameras, but not every model in those ranges. Check CamRanger's compatibility list for your exact camera before ordering, and note that Sony and Fujifilm use requires an SD card in the unit.
How far does CamRanger 2 reach?
CamRanger lists a range of up to 500 feet. Real-world range depends on walls, people, interference and which Wi-Fi band you use, so test the setup at your location and keep a clear line of sight between the unit and the controlling device.
