About Browning
Both cameras use invisible infrared for night images, which avoids a visible glow that can startle animals or draw attention. Browning lists the Dark Ops Pro X 1080 with 24 megapixel photos, 1080p video with sound, a 0.22 second trigger, 100 foot detection range, 90 foot infrared range and a 1.5 inch colour screen, running on eight AA batteries. The Dark Ops FHDR40 offers 40 megapixel photos, 1080p video with sound, an adjustable trigger from 0.135 seconds, 80 foot detection and 90 foot flash range, and runs on six AA batteries or a 12 volt input.
Choose the Pro X 1080 if you want the on-board screen and longer detection range, and the FHDR40 if higher resolution stills and the option of external 12 volt power matter more. Both take SDXC cards up to 512GB. Mount the camera about waist height, angled across a trail rather than straight along it, and clear branches that move in wind and trigger empty shots. Check local rules before placing cameras on land you do not own. Browning states a one year warranty on its products.
Browning questions
What is the difference between the two Browning Dark Ops cameras?
The Dark Ops Pro X 1080 has 24 megapixel photos, a colour viewing screen, 100 foot detection and eight AA batteries. The Dark Ops FHDR40 has 40 megapixel photos, 80 foot detection and an adjustable fast trigger, and runs on six AA batteries or external 12 volt power.
Do Browning trail cameras show a visible flash at night?
The Dark Ops models use invisible infrared, so there is no visible glow when the camera captures night images. Browning lists a 90 foot night range for both models we stock. Infrared night images are recorded in black and white.
What memory card do Browning trail cameras take?
Browning lists support for SDXC cards up to 512GB on both Dark Ops models. Use a reputable card with a suitable speed class for 1080p video, format it in the camera before first use, and carry a spare so you can swap cards on site.
