Blue Mantis is the brand on the foam windscreen we stock for the Blue Yeti and Yeti Pro USB microphones. The windscreen slips over the Yeti's grille to soften breath noise and plosives, and to reduce the sound of air movement near the capsules. It suits podcasters, streamers, gamers and voice-over artists recording close to a Yeti.

About Blue Mantis
The Yeti is a multi-pattern USB microphone built around a three-capsule array, according to Logitech, which now sells it under its Logitech G brand. Speaking close to it makes it prone to pops on hard consonants such as p and b, and to breath noise. A foam windscreen breaks up those bursts of air before they reach the capsules while letting the voice through. It also keeps dust and saliva off the grille, which helps when a microphone is shared or used every day.
A windscreen made for the Yeti's shape fits more snugly than a one-size foam cover, which can slip or leave gaps. Fit it by easing it evenly over the top of the microphone rather than stretching one side. Foam reduces plosives but does not replace good technique: sit slightly off-axis, keep a steady distance, and lower the gain if you still hear pops. Foam can dull the very top end slightly, so compare recordings with and without it and keep what suits your voice.
Blue Mantis questions
Will the Blue Mantis windscreen fit the Yeti X or Yeti Nano?
It is made for the Blue Yeti and Yeti Pro. Other models in the range have different body shapes and sizes, so the fit may be loose or too tight. Check the product page for the models listed before ordering for a different microphone.
Foam windscreen or pop filter for a Yeti?
Both reduce plosives. A foam windscreen sits directly on the microphone, stays tidy on camera and moves with the mic. A mesh pop filter on a gooseneck sits in front and can be more effective for very close speech. Many podcasters use one or the other, depending on setup.
How do I clean a foam windscreen?
Remove it from the microphone, rinse it in lukewarm water with a little mild soap, then squeeze gently without wringing. Let it dry completely at room temperature before refitting, since damp foam should not sit against a condenser capsule.
