About BlackRapid
BlackRapid's range centres on camera slings, including the original R-Strap concept and Sport models for DSLR, SLR and mirrorless cameras. The company also makes dual-camera harnesses, wrist straps, backpack camera straps, bags and connection accessories. Many strap systems use a ConnectR carabiner, FastenR camera fitting, LockStar and a safety tether. Strap designs vary by shoulder side, padding, stabilisation and carrying configuration.
Choose a single sling when you want one camera to move from a resting position towards your hand. The Sport X Left is made for left-shoulder use, while the Double X is designed to carry two cameras. Check the product page for the included hardware and camera connection method. FR-5 FastenR fittings, carabiners and connectors can help set up additional cameras or replace compatible components. Confirm tripod plate and lens-mount compatibility before purchase.
BlackRapid questions
Where is BlackRapid based?
BlackRapid was founded by Seattle photographer Ron Henry, and its official website identifies Seattle as part of the company's origins. The brand developed its camera sling around the needs of photographers carrying cameras during extended shoots.
What is a BlackRapid camera sling?
A BlackRapid sling carries the camera from a shoulder strap, with the camera attached through the brand's connection hardware. The camera can slide along the strap towards shooting position. Models differ in shoulder side, padding, stabilisation, capacity and included accessories.
What is the FastenR used for?
The FastenR is the camera-side fitting used with BlackRapid connection systems. The FR-5 FastenR uses a 1/4-20-inch thread and attaches through a compatible camera or lens mounting point. Check the individual product details and your camera or lens mount before use.
