About Amphenol

The AC series HDMI connector is a receptacle to receptacle adaptor with a mounting flange: one side faces out from the panel and the other connects to a cable behind it. It suits AV installers building wall plates, floor boxes and rack panels, and anyone making custom cases that need a tidy, fixed HDMI port. Because it is female on both sides, you use ordinary HDMI leads front and back, which makes replacing a damaged front lead a quick job rather than a rewiring task.

Check the panel cut-out and mounting hole spacing against your plate or panel before ordering, since panel connectors use set footprints. A feed-through adds a connection point to the signal path, so keep total cable length within what your source and display handle, and use certified high speed cables for 4K signals. Support the rear cable so its weight does not strain the connector, and leave some slack behind wall plates. For long runs between rooms, consider HDBaseT or fibre extenders instead of passive HDMI.

Amphenol questions

What is an HDMI panel mount connector used for?

It creates a fixed HDMI socket on a wall plate, rack panel, floor box or equipment case. A cable plugs into each side, so devices connect through the panel without loose leads hanging out of holes, and a worn front lead can be swapped easily.

Does a feed-through connector reduce HDMI quality?

A passive feed-through adds a connection but does not process the signal. Problems usually come from overall cable length or low-grade cables. Keep total runs short and use certified cables rated for the resolution and frame rate you need.

Is Amphenol Audio an Australian brand?

Amphenol Audio was launched in 2006 by Amphenol Australia, which has its head office in Melbourne. Amphenol Australia is part of Amphenol Corporation, a connector and interconnect maker headquartered in Wallingford, Connecticut in the United States.
